It seems all the gurus are telling you that you should be marketing on Facebook.
I believe there are 3 really big advantages that Facebook has over any other platform that make marketing on Facebook a no-brainer.
1. It’s FREE To Get Started
You can set up a business page on Facebook completely FREE.
We all love FREE, right?
There is no website to set up…no web hosting…no WordPress themes or plugins to buy.
You don’t even need to purchase a domain name (though you can and then have it redirected to your Facebook page).
It literally takes only a few minutes to do.
But remember that just because its FREE you still want to take the time to optimize it by filling in all the areas.
Create a good cover photo and profile image…you can do this yourself or hire it out (and please make sure the size is formatted correctly…a pet peeve of mine, lol).
Write a description, telling your audience what you, or your product/service, can do for them and complete the about section on the page…a lot of people skip this.
If you’re going to use this as your business page remember that you want it to represent your business in a positive way…so put some time into it.
2. Facebook Is The Largest Community On The Planet
Facebook has over 2 billion members, with over 1.5 billion active users every month…
And they’re adding new members every day.
Facebook Messenger is now the leading messaging platform worldwide and they’ve recently opened it up to marketers.
Messenger messages have open rates close to 80% with click-through rates between 30-40%…when is the last time you saw those kinds of numbers in your email campaigns?
You want to get your message in front of as many people as possible…and the people are on Facebook.
Oh, and did I mention Facebook now owns Instagram and its 800 million users.
You will have a hard time running out of people to talk to.
3. Data, Data…And More Data
One Fox News story cited that Facebook has a list of 29,000 categories it shares with advertisers.
I’ve also seen reports claiming that they have as many as 5,000 data points on 230 million Americans.
In case you’re wondering, that’s a whole lot of data.
They have demographic data – age, sex, education level, income level, geographic location, job title, etc. – and psychographic data – likes, interests, groups you’re in, celebrities you follow, etc.
Marketing is simply getting the right message in front of the right audience at the right time.
Well, Facebook takes care of helping you nail down the right audience in a way we’ve never seen before.
They also provide tools and analytics to help you track how your marketing/advertising is doing (I encourage you all to familiarize yourself with the Insights and Publishing Tools tabs in the top menu of your page).
Hopefully, I’ve laid out some compelling reasons why I believe you should be marketing on Facebook.
It doesn’t matter what kind of business you have, Facebook definitely needs to be a part of your marketing strategy.
