In my previous post, I covered “Why You Need To Market On Facebook”, today I’m sharing 4 essential things you need to have if you want your marketing to be effective on Facebook.

I encourage you to also familiarize yourself with Facebook’s Business resources.

Before diving in, I don’t want to assume anything…you must have a personal profile on Facebook in order to take advantage of the things I am sharing here.

1. A Facebook (Business) Page

These used to be called Fan Pages but now they are just called Pages.

You may be wondering if you can just use your personal profile page to promote your business.

Well, not according to Facebook’s Terms:

It’s against the Facebook Terms to use your profile to represent something other than yourself (example: your business), and you could permanently lose access to your account if you don’t convert it to a Page.

Having a Facebook Business Page gives you these additional benefits:

  • Pages are designed for businesses and organizations, with features that help you connect with customers and reach your goals.
  • You’ll have access to Page insights, where you can see metrics like which posts people engage with and visitor demographics like age and location.
  • Page roles can let you give other people access to edit your Page.
  • You can create ads and boost posts.

There is a Facebook Pages Manager mobile app for both iOS and Android that allows you to manage your pages from your smartphone.

2. A Facebook Business Manager Account

Business Manager allows you to:

  • Create and manage separate ad accounts.
  • Get an overview or detailed views of ad spending and impressions.
  • Allow specific, role-based access to your ad accounts, Pages and apps.

You can create a Facebook Ad Account using your personal profile, however, it is limited to just one account and does not have all the functionality the Business Manager.

There is a Facebook Ads Manager mobile app for both iOS and Android which allows you to manage and analyze your ads from your smartphone.

3. A Facebook Group Associated With Your Business

Facebook Groups give you the ability to create a following of raving fans for your brand, product or service.

It doesn’t have to be specifically about your business but should be built around your business and/or the benefits of your brand.

For example, if you sold cookware, your group might be about healthy cooking or recipes.

You can also offer exclusive training or promotional offers to incentivize group membership.

Hopefully, that makes sense.

4. Facebook Messenger Chatbot Platform

As mentioned in my previous post, Facebook has recently opened its Messenger platform up for business marketing.

They released the Messenger API to developers and several companies, like Mobile Monkey, have created platforms that marketers can use to direct message potential prospects, leads, and customers…without needing to know anything about coding (whew).

Early data shows that Messenger marketing with chatbots is extremely effective. With message open rates approaching 80% and 30-40% click-through rates, you can’t afford not to be an early adopter of this technology.

Given the ability of these chatbot platforms to build contact lists by pulling in data directly from Facebook, some experts predict that this could potentially replace email marketing.

Right now it is estimated that only about 1% of all business are using this marketing strategy, so again, you should get on board now.

There you have it.
